I have been having a great month, but it just keeps feeling like something is off.
I know, this girl is impossible to please! Snap out of it! But Christmas is overwhelmingly my favorite season, and I'm feeling like I'm going to have a Blue Christmas without...Virginia.
I love Christmas music, but honestly if someone were to start roasting chestnuts on an open fire ANYWHERE near me I would blow a fuse because it's flipping HOT here! Jack Frost is on strike, I'm the only "white" part of this Christmas, streets are not dressed in Holiday Cheer NOR are any halls decked.
Stay tuned for a variety of pictures of "trees" and "lights".
It's enough to break my heart.
So how's a girl to create some christmas cheer during the hot hot Cape Town Summer?

The first step is to regulate the temperature. I started with waiting until the sun went down (duh). Then I turned on a fan and opened all of the windows and cranked up my best Christmas playlist. (you'd be ashamed of me if you knew what was on this list). I laid out a blanket to be pretend snow, made some peppermint hot chocolate, got out some knitting and a present (from Busi!) to make it pretty, and even pulled out my secret stash of mint m&ms and candy cane kisses.
Then I jumped in an ice cold shower until I was chilled to the bone and now I'm snuggled in warm clothes and blankets, enjoying the cold, chugging my mint happiness, and watching Elf.
Christmas time is here.
Annnnnnd my family gets here in 24 hours. PINCH ME.

P.S. - kids love me. And so does God, by letting these little buggers come talk to me/drive me crazy in a good way while I was listening to Christmas Carols at a huge garden and reading about the CT shooting. It was nice to enjoy their blissfully ignorant joy.
I hope I get to be mom some day.
