Make-up is REALLY expensive here. I mean....something like $20 for some basic mascara. Not even for the nice stuff!! (same goes for shampoo/conditioner/face wash...I'm even starting to use bar soap - it's $1 instead of $8 for a micro sized bottle of what I used in the states. EEK)
So, it was with deep regret that I determined that my vanity has to give in to my frugality.
I have been predominately make-up free for the past several days, having given up all but foundation and the dying remnants of my mascara. And you know what has happened?
Three people have told me that I look extra pretty these days.
I blame the eyeliner. My mom was right - I'm too pale to look good in eye makeup. Frugality for the win.
That being said, this blotchy skinned girl is going to have a really hard time if her foundation runs out before a trip to the USA. Good thing my Mary Kay selling sister sent me off with two of them. :)
Today I typed up a bazillion addresses to print on labels. Fine. 192 of them. Thank goodness for Eugene taking the rest. We are mailing out an 8 page newsletter to the past graduates of the course. It's pretty neat, but I forgot how much work mailings can be. Frugality lost the battle against laziness (read: self sealing envelopes) and so I have high hopes of having these things mailed out as soon as I am done tri-folding 300 thick newsletters.
Might be a while, hey?
Random Thoughts:
- While singing opera in my car (thanks Josh Groban), I finally understood why people who can't carry a tune still love to sing. I sounded ridiculous and my voice cracked on a bunch of ridiculously high notes and it was so funny that I have sore abs from laughing at myself. Life is good.
- My little sister may or may not get her late birthday card, since when she FINALLY gave me her address at college she gave me the wrong zip code. While the post office here didn't auto correct me, I have a new appreciation for Amazon. Lucky Dori.
- I think South Africa is getting used to me. I buy lots of kiwis, which are normally about a dollar each. HOWEVER today they gave them to me for less than 50 cents each. I bought extra to show my appreciation.
- I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift is about to lose my *apparently not*undying love.
