I would just like to say, I love people who love people. I'm sure that makes me a love wimp, but still. It is so easy to love people who are actively loving others! Which is why I love Jody Hilt, and her South African twin. (If you want to learn more/get involved in what Jody and her family are doing, read THIS:

I felt welcomed from the first second I stepped in the front door. This lady and her husband (think Joe Kelley) have a 17 year old daughter and have adopted a now 2 1/2 year old girl from the Xhosa community. She is a bundle of energy. And joy. :) Kristin is just the most joyful and kindhearted woman that I have met so far. I felt so very much at ease. And I am happy to say that I will be renting a room from them. So I will have privacy (a separate entrance, even) but I will also not be too alone. I've been told the little one will make her way into my space whenever possible, which excites me to no end. Also, when I called to say that I gladly accept, Kristin was thrilled as well. She said she's seen other people and turned them down, but when she met me she thought "Ah, here is the one we have been waiting for!"
What a gift, and an affirmation!
I move in on Sunday.
Tomorrow, the adventure of a car officially begins. I cannot WAIT to report on how that turns up. They are crazy for giving a 24 year old American WOMAN a free pass to drive a left handed manual on the flipping wrong side of the road. With no test and no training! Just a "cheers!" and I'm off!! Bonkers, they are. Anyways, pray for everyone else in Cape Town. They are in for a disaster.
Oh, some final random thoughts:
- There is prepaid EVERYTHING here. Including electricity. It's an interesting and not more expensive option.
- I had my first day of work and I love the people still. Ziba is the name I forgot. He is equally delightful, and very concerned about my warmth.
- Speaking of warmth, having the kind of hair that takes years to dry is going to be a terrible thing here. I might actually learn to use a blow dryer. Shame.
- Lastly, is anyone interested in getting a name or a description of a person who I meet who they can pray for specifically? I feel like I could give each of you your very own person, and update you on their life accordingly. Let me know if you want one. :)
Cheers! (I really don't get that word...)
